The Beach

A series of ten figure studies based on vacation photographs taken on a beach in Odessa, Ukraine, sometime in the 1960s. The exercise was a way to isolate and individualize the anonymous characters in these small photographs. Through the process of graphic representation in preparation for a printmaking technique, the individual's character is re-imagined and amplified, giving new life to a moment long passed. The studies were silkscreened in three colours and finished with hand detailing.
